It’s been two years since marine biologist Monty Halls, wife Tam and daughters Molly and Isla travelled to one of the most unique and ecologically important places on the planet – the Galapagos.
Now, with concern for the planet a global issue, the family are heading back!
This time they’re all getting hands-on, working with conservationists and scientists striving to protect the Galapagos and its remarkable wildlife and discovering how this magical place is inspiring solutions that could help the whole planet.

Episode 1:
Monty Halls and his family return to the Galapagos to spend two months on the remote island of Isabela, where beachside neighbours include marine iguanas and the rare Galapagos penguin. They’re back to find out what’s changed and, at a time when we face our biggest global challenges, what’s being done to protect this unique wilderness and the extraordinary animals that live here. Monty experiences the mighty volcanic power that created the islands, mum Tam makes a solo voyage in search of threatened Giant Manta Rays and Molly, the youngest, has her first snorkelling experience.
Episode 2
Monty Halls and his family are settling into life on the island of Isabela in the Galapagos and discover it’s not without its challenges! The whole family find flamingos in an unexpected place, and get to know a big fish with a bad reputation. Daughter Isla becomes a young field assistant helping to tag baby Hammerheads, and Tam and Monty mark their wedding anniversary underwater with over 20 endangered sharks!
Episode 3
Monty Halls and his family have swapped Devon life for the Galapagos. This time they discover how its popularity as the ‘ultimate wildlife destination’ is putting pressure on the unspoilt wilderness and extraordinary animals that live here. Monty heads miles offshore on an expedition to rescue an injured sea lion and Tam, Isla and Molly investigate how marine plastic is threatening a unique, endangered bird. With visitors numbers at an all-time high – the family learn how tourists can do their bit to help look after these remote islands for future generations.
Episode 4
As their stay on the Galapagos draws to a close, Monty and his family find out what’s being done to protect the islands and their endangered wildlife from the threat of invasive animals. Monty embarks on a dangerous mission in search of an undiscovered species, daughters Isla and Molly get a glimpse of what the future might hold, and Tam braves a perilous rock face to help save the Floreana Mockingbird from the brink of extinction.
